FAQs about Our Services
PRS supports the full lifecycle of precision and engraved rolls—from pattern development and pilot testing to roll repair/refurbishment, spare parts support, and precision gear manufacturing & machining. If a roll shows up with missing specs, PRS can also help identify it so you can move forward with repair or replacement.
Yes. PRS can match or modify existing patterns or develop a new design. Options include using stock patterns from a large texture library, high-resolution scanning and digital pattern creation, and rapid prototypes of sample textures to validate a direction before committing.
Pilot line testing lets you validate embossing patterns and process settings in small, iterative batches before going to full production. It’s a cost-effective way to adjust patterns/processes, build confidence in results, and reduce the risk of costly rework—especially when launching a new product, changing substrates, or tuning a pattern for performance.
PRS roll repair/refurbishment helps extend roll life and restore performance. Services include bringing rolls back to spec with journal rebuild or replacement, re-engraving, roll face resurfacing, and rebalancing. Additional options include rechromes, hand repairs, and re-entry of tooling depending on the roll condition and application.
Yes. PRS offers on-site technician visits for certain needs, including re-etching male/female roll sets (when applicable), along with other repair/refurbishment options to get rolls back to spec.
Yes. PRS supports OEM parts and service for specific converting equipment needs (including Litho Labeler parts and service). Offerings include items like glue bands/dams, metering rolls, vacuum pumps, bearings, sucker gaskets, label straps, stripper springs, plus field service, machine audits, on-site training, and installation. PRS also rebuilds/upgrades existing labelers and supplies new labelers, and notes inventory of OEM parts including hard-to-find items.
PRS provides gear manufacturing and precision machining for applications requiring accuracy, durability, and repeatability. Capabilities include CNC/manual gear hobbing for spur/helical gears, gear shaping, gear tooth grinding, wire EDM, multi-axis mill/turn machining, lathe work, and multiple grinding methods (including micron-level precision grinding where required). PRS also lists gear specifications such as spur/helical gears up to 20 inches in diameter and AGMA 2000 Class 12 precision (application-dependent).
Yes. PRS offers a Roll Identification service: upload a photo (roll, face pattern, or application area), share what you know (dimensions/material/equipment details), and PRS engineers review and identify the roll type. PRS then follows up with guidance or a quote for repair, re-engraving, replacement, or next steps.
